Absorption Heat Pumps — Low Grade & High Grade

Upgrade low-grade waste heat into useful process heat and district heating flow temperatures — driven by heat, not electricity.

Low grade absorption heat pump for district heatingLow grade

Low Grade Heat Pump

Combines a high-temperature driving source with low-grade waste heat to deliver a large flow of medium-temperature heat. Typical COP around 1.7 means roughly 1.7 kW of useful heat for every 1 kW of driving heat.

  • Output tempUp to ~90 °C
  • Typical COP1.6 – 1.8
  • Best forDistrict heating, flue gas recovery
High grade absorption heat pump heat transformerHigh grade

High Grade Heat Pump

Takes medium-temperature waste heat and lifts a portion of it 30–50 °C higher with almost no external energy input. Ideal where process waste heat exists but higher-grade heat is needed.

  • Temperature lift+30 – 50 °C
  • Typical COP≈ 0.45 – 0.5
  • Best forProcess industry upgrades
Applications

Where absorption heat pumps deliver value

District heating networks

Recover flue gas and low-grade sources and lift them to network flow temperatures.

Industrial process heat

Upgrade waste streams for wash water, preheat and higher-temperature process duties.

Data centre heat export

Lift server exhaust heat to temperatures that neighbouring heat networks can use.

CHP and energy centres

Maximise the useful heat extracted from engines and boilers year-round.
