District Heating Heat Pumps

Why absorption for heat networks

The Danish standard exists for a reason.

District heating plants that condense flue gas below the dew point recover large amounts of latent heat. A low grade absorption heat pump provides the cold sink that makes deep condensation possible and then delivers that heat into the network at useful flow temperatures.

Flue gas condensing recovery

Cool exhaust below dew point, capture latent heat, and feed it into the network via the heat pump.

Low-grade source upgrade

Sewage, industrial cooling circuits and data centre heat can be lifted to network temperatures.

CHP integration

Maximise useful heat from engines and boilers while still producing power.

Fuel utilisation gains

Plants routinely move from ~90% to over 100% fuel utilisation (LHV basis) with well-designed absorption heat pumps.
